06/01/2010 - President's Message May/June

Hello Again Fellow Members,

The Board is changing things a little for the next few months. We are excited to let you know of our membership drive that will take place for our June dinner meeting. Buy one dinner and get a coupon for a free dinner. To take advantage of the free dinner, you must be a current member and bring a guest to the SWFPA dinner meeting on June 16, 2010. The guest has to join as a SWFPA member at that dinner meeting. Both the current member and the new member will receive a coupon for a free SWFPA dinner meeting. We need both of you to register for the dinner meeting by June 15, 2010. The guest will be required to fill out the membership application and pay the pro-rated membership fee (1/2 of the regular fee + $10) at the dinner meeting. The BOGO Coupon is available for all 4 membership categories: active, student, associate, and sustaining. The BOGO Coupon can be used for reimbursement for the June 16, 2010 meeting or at a future dinner meeting.

Also, the June dinner meeting will start a few minutes earlier so we accommodate our subject. The topic for the June dinner meeting is Dinner and a Divorce; A view from Both Sides. Attorneys Peter Collins and Tauna Bogle will discuss the issues divorcing couples face today. This is sure to be an informative and entertaining meeting so we hope everyone can make it. There will be 2.0 credit hours issued for this dinner meeting.

I hope by now everyone has had a chance to check out our new website. Karin has been working very hard to put it together for all of us to use. The new site is user friendly and offers opportunities for us to log on and acquire information easily. Our Association Documents and membership information is available for those that are members. Because you can go in and update your information at any time, our membership list should stay up-to-date. Once you log in, you will still find the many links to favorite sites paralegals use, there is also a discussion board which could be very helpful is you need to ask a question of your fellow members. This site will also make it easier for the Board to communicate with each other and make our jobs easier. If you have not been on it yet, please take a few minutes to get acquainted and explore the site.

As we enter hurricane season once again, please be certain to go online and look up the recently revised hurricane evacuation zones. I wish everyone a happy and healthy summer.
